I had the opportunity to be a part of something very special
this past weekend – my eldest sister, Allye, got married!
About 11 years ago, my mother remarried and my dream of
having siblings finally came true. I first met Allye and Abby when I was 9. I
remember being so nervous that I changed my outfit at least ten times, but went
with one of my favorite little belly shirts and shorts. Ever since the moment I
met them, they’ve been my role models and I’m so blessed to have them in my
life!
Allye had just started high school and I was only in 3rd
grade, so the age difference was quite the gap back then. I always wanted to
hang out with her and her friends because I thought they were so cool and fun
to be around. Although I was probably a little annoying to have around, Allye
never rejected my company.

As the years passed and I grew older, the age difference began to no longer be an issue and we only grew closer and closer. Allye and I are no longer just sisters – we’re friends, too.
When she got engaged to Adam about a year ago, the whole
family was ecstatic – mostly because we all knew Allye had found someone who
was a perfect fit for our family and had a heart just as big as hers!
If I had to choose one word to describe Allye and Adam’s
wedding, it would be "perfect". Between the beautiful weather, amazing
friends and family, and a flawless bride, it’s hard to imagine someone planning
a better wedding. The wedding took place right here in Greensboro with the
ceremony in Fisher Park and the reception on the Kress Terrace in the middle of
downtown Greensboro. After many, many pictures, a little mingling, and the
introduction of the bridesmaids, groomsmen, and the newlyweds, it was finally
party time!

After a couple hours of eating, drinking, and dancing our
patooties off it was finally time to cut the wedding cake! It was unique and
simple and fit perfectly with the rest of the night’s décor. It was a beautiful
sweet potato and brown sugar cake finished with a delicious buttercream icing
and a brown sugar trim. This delicate dessert was very popular among guests!
As the night carried on and the moon came up, the fun and dancing continued. I wish I could describe to y’all every second of every minute of every hour of the wedding, but I know I just wouldn’t be able to do it justice. It was a perfect evening filled with friends, family, and most of all love!
