Over and over again, 36 times over to be exact, I rolled out
the dough, cut the shapes, popped them in the oven, iced, sprinkled a little
bit of love of my own in them, and decorated each sweet cookie by hand. What I
noticed throughout the process was that these cookies, although they were shaped
by the same cookie cutter and iced with the same colors and monogram, there was
still something different about each one—each had a little something that made
it stand apart from the rest of the batch. It’s a lot like love, in my opinion.
Love, in general, is its own whole thing, but just like these monogrammed
cookies, you will never see or experience the exact same love twice, and
there’s just something so special about that!

I know I’m still fairly young in the grand scheme of life,
but I’ve seen a great deal in my ripe old age of 25, and as a result I’ve learned
how many kinds of love there are to endure: the kind that’s patient and kind enough
to last over 50 or more years; the kind that is so darn passionate, yet sadly
destructive; the kind of love that you fall out of; the kind that has you
falling deeper every day; the kind of love that gives you butterflies in your belly every time you look at each other;
the laugh until you pee your pants kind of love; the second chance kind of
love; the later in life kind of love; the kind of love that saves your life;
the Rayna Jaymes and Deacon Claybourne kind of love…okay sorry, I’m binge-watching
Nashville as I type this!

| Once I had the border on each cookie, the filling of the middle was easy peasy! Toothpicks came in super handy and helped to evenly spread the icing out. |
I could keep rattling these off like I can rattle off cookie
flavors that I’ve eaten, but we’d never make it to the end of this blog post if
I did that.
For those that know me personally, you’re probably thinking
how ironic this is considering I’m single as all get out these days! But what’s
funny about being single—well, there’s actually lots of funny things: the awkward
first dates, the unfortunate dating app profiles, my family members asking if I’m
seeing anyone special to which I respond “Y’all are on a need-to-know basis and
right now there’s no one for you to know!” Anywho, I digress! What’s really
funny is how much I’ve soaked up from the loving relationships I’m constantly
surrounded by. I’m certainly blessed to have such amazing, yet super different,
loves around!
The past several weeks, I’ve gotten to celebrate some of
these loves at dear friends’ weddings and showers from Greensboro all the way
to Texas. I also had the amazing opportunity to cater the dessert at the
rehearsal dinner for an amazing couple I’ve had the absolute pleasure of
recently becoming friends with. They have that best friend kind of love that I
hope to one day find!

| When Abbey and I first met in middle school I thought she was the biggest nerd...but she quickly became my best friend and I'm so happy our friendship continued throughout college and life thereafter! Her and her now hubby, Malcolm, gave me just the loveliest reason to visit Austin, TX. Their gorgeous wedding was held at Prospect House in Dripping Springs. |

| Also, how perfect was their cake?! Literally had my eyes on it the entire night...at least when I wasn't cutting a rug on the dance floor! Girl likes her cake y'all. |

The Junior League of Greensboro brought the four of us together almost 3 years ago and for that I am so thankful! How beautiful is Holly?! She was so excited to share with everyone the fact that her wedding dress had pockets--a girl after my own heart! Her wedding was held at Suite 300 here in Greensboro, and was absolutely perfect!

At a small shower for Soph, the hilarious bride-to-be, I
brought some sugar cookie favors in the shape of wedding dresses for everyone.
As soon as she saw them, she asked, “Wait, will you do my rehearsal dinner?” I
immediately laughed thinking surely, she was joking. Turns out she couldn’t
have been more serious! So later that evening, I hoped on Pinterest to find the
exact image I had already pictured in my head, which is kind of like Pinterest
in itself—an organized mess. She shared her wedding colors so I could
coordinate icing shades and we chose the style monogram. I did not trust myself
enough to just wing this thing so a couple trial runs later I sent a couple
photos to the future Mrs. Parker for approval—luckily for me, she said yes (to
the cookies)!

The morning of the dinner, I woke up, put on my favorite
work-in-the-kitchen music (“My Girl” Pandora station), and began bagging and
tagging each one-of-a-kind monogrammed cookie. Dressed them in ribbon as the
finishing touches, buckled them up in the car as if they were small children,
and toted them to where they’d be served that evening, The Traveled Farmer. And
just like that, I said goodbye to 36 of the sweetest loves I’ve ever gotten to
be a part of.
